P-38 Painting/Art

I'm planning a new P-38 piece based on an F/H type. If anyone has any suggestions, as to the theatre of ops and unit, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look at the suggestions. The first one on the list might be hard to sell due to the name of the aircraft, but I'll look see anyway

Re: P-38 Painting/Art

Like Jack, I too find that the Pacific Theatre captures my interest. Personally I find the P-38's of the 475th FG quite colourful and unique. If you can get your hands on the excellent book Possum, Clover and Hades by John Stanaway you'll fnd some excellent colour profiles of early 'H' models.

If you cannot get access to a copy of the book, drop me a line and I'll scan the photo's for you.

Re: P-38 Painting/Art

2Lt Virgil Hagan of the 433rd FS 475th FG was downed (MIA) on Oct 17, 1943 over Oro Bay trying to help Tom McGuire who was also downed but survived. I've read from a number of sources that the great Japanese ace Nishizawa downed both. Hagan was flying P-38H #181 and scored a kill on the 15th.
