S/Lt.(A) H. Morrison, RNVR, No. 809 Sqdn

Hi,

I'm buillding a Fulmar Mk. I, that served in the No. 809 Sqn, in august 1942. It is the 6F (X8812), piloted by S/Lt.(A) H.Morrison. Did he have some air victory? Did it receive some award?

Which was the name and position of TAG that it accompanied him?

Thank's a lot!

Franklin

Re: S/Lt.(A) H. Morrison, RNVR, No. 809 Sqdn

Sub/Lt (A) Hugh Morrison, RNZNVR, received two Mentions in Dispatches, one in 1942, and the other posthumous in 1945. He is credited with an Me-109 on Aug 12, 1942, S of Sardinia, in a Fulmar II (according to my database). His gunner on that occasion was L/Air Charles Frederick Dawson. He also shared with three other aircraft a BV-138 damaged on March 9, 1942, off Norway, also in a Fulmar II; his gunner was L/Air D Sloan. Both claims were while serving in 809 Sqn.

Sources are the combat reports, in the PRO.

He was KIA on May 4, 1945, off Norway, with 826 Sqn, in Wildcat VI JV809 (882 Sqn). See Errol W Martyn, For Your Tomorrow, Vol 2.

Frank.
