Re: Photos + 5-4-05

Hi,

the 4th photo from Bf109`s group shows white or yellow 15 from III/JG27 (probably Lecce July 1943).

Regards

Robert

Re: Photos + 5-4-05

The last 109 photo is speculated to be a possible Marseille machine. This is doubtful and cannot be identified simply from this nose shot.

The only known Marseille machine with the I./JG27 emblem is his last one in which the tan 79 went all the way down to the exhausts. In this photo, clearly, the top and bottom color demarkation line is above the exhausts.

Well Jim, somebody must have seen the prices lately for Ebay-pictures and thought that he can get it for every picture......it is funny indeed!

Re: Photos + 5-4-05

About eBay prices. Would anyone be willing to sell their photos here for a fixed price? How does one determine a fair price? How can anyone call a certain price "ridiculous"? Does anyone think the sellers are hoping that their photo will not sell? Or sell for very little? Does anyone think they can control the actions of others who buy photos at "outrageous/insane" prices? It is not eBay's fault.

I am not an agent for eBay or any seller of Luftwaffe materials,
Ed

Re: Photos + 5-4-05

That was a start price Ed, not the current bid. While I wouldn't call the photo worthless, it certainly ain't nothin' special - I have a number of prints in my own collection that show this badge quite clearly and I've never paid more than $30 for a photo - and I couldn't begin to count the number of times photos or drawings of this badge have appeared in print, but to each his own - I'll save my $240 for the next 3 or 4 Prien volumes.

Re: Photos + 5-4-05

Well said Jim. Sad thing is I know from personal experience that people who are not knowledgeable do pay high prices for things. I'm reminded of something I was told by one collectibles dealer, and which I did not like hearing at the time: "It's worth whatever someone's willing to pay for it."

Regards,
Ed
