Kuttelwascher bomber claim!

Hello all.

Can someone help with the following.

On the night of the 30th April-1st May, 1942 the famous Czech pilot Karel Kuttelwascher (Hurricane IIc) of 1 Sqn., claimed a He111 over Rennes and a Ju88 (i've seen this recorded as a Do217 or a He111!) 5 miles off the French coast at Dinard.

Could anyone confirm the identity of the Dinard a/c for me. Type/unit/crew etc? I have tried to find his combat report in the National Archives but to no avail!

Steve.

Re: Kuttelwascher bomber claim!

Hello Steve,

Long ago I also sought in vain with his two claims and never found.
Nothing with cemeteries, nothing in the archives.
His two losses are pending on our site. See at the time.

Re: Kuttelwascher bomber claim!

Thanks Dan.

I thought you might say that! Thanks for the link to your site, really interesting. I want to do something similar for the Channel Islands area up to and including the Contentin/North Brittany coast.
I have only quickly looked through it but have already found a number of losses that are of interest to me! Currently I have approx. 170 losses in the general Channel Island area on file with many more to investigate.

Once again thanks.....Steve.

Dan.

I've just been looking through your site and one of your forum members has asked about a lost P-47, 41-6337, which came down south of Jersey on 31st Dec. 1943. Pilot Lt.Marrangello suffered suspected oxygen failure causing loss of control at altitude. My French is not good but if I can help I have the MACR which has a sketch map of the location. The crash occurred just north of the Minquiers about 11 miles south of Jersey. I could send the MACR on to him!
