eBay Fraud?
Hi;
came across this on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123 This "color photo" is actually a screen capture from Microsoft Flight Simulator of Mike Cyul's ME 262 model. It is a very nice model, to be sure, but hardly a "historic color print". What's sad is in reviewing his feedback, at least one person bought this "historic color print"........ Paul |

Re: eBay Fraud?
Well,
What can you say... I cannot believe that anybody actually bought it, i mean, the first glance at this picture really screamed "computer animated" no real-life picture is that perfect. All that said, I suppose that not making any mistakes, is not learning either... Happy New Year! Angantyr Quote:

Re: eBay Fraud?
A friend of mine used to collect animation cels. The catalogs he received contained interesting terminology not for the unwary. Example: a "presentation background" may or may not have been used in the film or could be drawn by someone entirely unconnected. A "photo-litho" background was just a lithographic print of a photo of the original background. My friend was present at a live auction where an individual bought a piece with such a background. He thought it was original! Granted, "photo-litho" is not a term one uses in everyday conversation. Almost needless to say, after someone among the participants told him this, this man went to the auctioneer and demanded a refund. The auctioneer calmly pointed out that the term "photo-litho" was used in the description and defined in the catalog.
Outright fraud, such as in this case, is not uncommon either, but sometimes, isolated individuals who are unaware of forums like this, assume they've spotted something unique. But, even though one can find answers to questions in under one tenth of a second on google, there are more than a few who simply don't want to do the "work." Oh well. Perhaps once bitten and warned for the future. Ed |

Re: eBay Fraud?
On a guitar forum that I visit regularly, there is an increasing influx of top name guitars being faked out of China. Some of the members on that forum take the following steps:
1. Contact the 'rip off' seller and advise him of the fake and suggest they take it down; 2. contact e-bay and advise them of the fake auction; 3. If that fails, two will bid ludicrous amounts to, in effect, blitz the auction away: one will bid $1million, the other $1million + 1 dollar. 4. The rip off person's attempt at fraud is blown away. There is no way they will try to pursue the sale to its conclusion. One less con on e-bay. What the forum members do is not totally 'correct' in these PC times, but all too often e-bay does nothing in spite of being advised about bogus/false/fake auctions.
