Re: B-17, 43-38115, 43-38480

thx mike.

I got this information about the two B-17:

43-38115 was hit by a bomb, exploded and crashed near Bielefeld, MACR 9429.

43-38480 was hit by debris from 43-38115 and also crashed near Bielefeld,
MACR 9430.

Something is wrong.

MACR 9430 ---> 43-38409, B-17 crashed north of detmold.

what number is the MACR for 43-38480 ?

Re: B-17, 43-38115, 43-38480

Hi,

Documents shown on "Footnote" show that -

43-38115 was MACR 9429 location given as Binlefeld, Germany.

43-38409 was MACR 9430 location given as Binlefeld, Germany.

BUT No MACR shown for 43-38480.
So looks like either the documents are wrong or "Footnote" has it wrong.

From Formans B17 History
43-38115
Del Cheyenne 28/6/44; Lincoln 14/7/44; Grenier 11/8/44; ass 860 BS/493 BG Debach 13/8/44; MIA Bielefeld, Ger 30/9/44 w/Treece; hit by bomb from above a/c, cr Bielefeld; 8 KIA 1 POW MACR9429. RELUCTANT LASSIE.

43-38480
Del Cheyenne 8/8/44; Lincoln 18/8/44;Grenier 2/9/44; ass 860BS/493BG Debach 13/9/44;MIA Bielefeld 30/9/44 w/LaFlame; hit by debris from 43-38115, cr Bielefeld; 8 KIA 1 POW; MACR 9430.

For 43-38409
Del Cheyenne 29/7/44;Kearney 10/8/44;Grenier 16/8/44;ass 18 BS/ 43 BG Mendlesham 18/8/44; ret US Bradley 21/6/45; 4168 BU Sth Plains 28/6/45; RFC Kingman 26/11/45 BETTY.

Anyone got copies of the two MACR's in question ?

Alex
