Re: Photos 11-30

Hi, guys

Regarding the photo album from the Beobachter flying a He 111... some of them are incredible, and if they are really made in a combat situation, I am amazed of the quality...

Especially the photos of the polish and french fighters are incredible, and for some reason I get a feeling that these photographs are made AFTER the battle, and might be part of a movie or something?

Problem is that other photographs feels as 'the real thing'...

Comments?

Regards,
Andreas B

Re: Photos 11-30

Hi, Robert

I saw that they were Avia's, but didn't know if the poles had any of these (not my main field of interest)

You can also see a camera installation on top of the engine cowling on one of the 'french' Hawks.

Anyone able to identify the Hawks with serial numbers? Did these eventually end up in III./JG 77 and Finland?

Regards,
Andreas B

What is the device on the cowling in front of the cockpit in the Curtiss P-36 Hawk photographs?

This particular "original" photo has been sold at least twice on eBay.

Re: Photos 11-30

That album (with He 111s, Avias and P-36s) was very interesting, indeed.

I am quite sure the P-36 with the bogus RAF-markings (they are not French ones, vene if they are inacurate) were used in a propaganda movie and that the equipment is an externally mounted camera.

Didn't know they used the Avia as stand-ins for Polish fighters for the same puurpose, though.

This photo: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...m=150313294585

does not show a Halifax in my view, but a Whitley. Or am I completely wrong???

Regards,

Kjetil
