229 Sqn Spitfire IX MJ219 Code?

Hello

I am looking for the individual code for this aircraft, 9R-?
It flew into high ground near Chale, Isle of Wight on the 11 of June 1944. Pilot F/Lt R A Cummings, killed.
Spitfire BS167, 9R-N, flown by Flt Lt G Mains also crashed during this incident.

Thanks

Pete

Hi Pete,

I haven't got the answer but if this was an operational loss, then Fighter
Command Losses Vol 3-by Norman Franks-may be of help.

Cheers, Bruce
