Walrus markings

Hi all,
I have a profile of a Supermarine Walrus that has some writing under the cockpit that looks like;
"Spotter of spartmento".
The Aircraft has serial number L2228 on it.
Can someone identify what the last word says and what it means?

regards
Peter
