B-17 "Dear Mom"

On 17 August 1943 a B-17 (42-30389) “Dear Mom” of 331 BS, 94 BG, USAAF was attacked and shot down by Karl Borris of I. / JG26. I have two questions related to this aircraft;

1. Can someone tell me the names of the crew members and their ranks/position within the aircraft, i.e. pilot, waist gunner etc.
2. What I have found referenced on this aircraft have some sources indicating 6 crew members killed and 4 made POW's while other sources show 5 killed and 5 POW's

Many thanks

Jeremy

Re: B-17 "Dear Mom"

Conflicting information here. I've seen 2 EVD, 2 POW, 6 KIA, and 4 POW and 6 KIA. The pilot was Lt. Bernard W. Nayovitz, but I've also seen the last name spelled Nayowitz. MACR 323

That's all I have.

Re: B-17 "Dear Mom"

Thanks ED,

Knowing the pilot is a great start, looks as though crew losses/POWs are one dilemma.

Cheers

Re: B-17 "Dear Mom"

Jeremy,

If you join http://www.footnote.com/ you can lookup and download any Missing Air Crew Report.

Footnote is the U.S. National Archives on-line. Millions of pictures, reports, etc.. I believe a subscription for a year is approx $70.

Regards,
Mike
