II.KG30 16.Sept. 41

On 16.sept. 41 the II.KG4 Lost a Ju88A-5 4D+RN 883306, no detail on the crew is given in the usual lists, but it seems that the russians sized the plane, who no more about this one ??

Re: II.KG30 16.Sept. 41

Hi RT:

I have this number on 19.09. ?

Could it be the one labelled as A-4 (actually an A-5 judging from bent metal props) in IWM picture on top of page 11 in The Ju 88 A ´Profile 29´ (by Martin C Windrow ) and stated ´Russian Navy personnel examine a A-4 of KG 30 downed by naval gunfire on the shores of the Barents Sea´?

cheers

Re: II.KG30 16.Sept. 41

Hello Ed.

Usual list speak about the 16.sept. seems that the russian managed to fly this plane, the question was about the fate of the crew ,,,??

In the same list you hv a Ju88a-4 sic, 360442 KG3 found in Orsha

Re: II.KG30 16.Sept. 41

No - I do not have crew names of 3306 and nothing on that the Russian flew it - likely the crew escaped or was saved - I have C-6 360442 (45 Er) damaged in belly landing with 5./NJG 3 on 13.12.43 - Possibly the number could be wrong (or could have been other A-4 repaired with parts from 360442 and found / captured there in 1944).

cheers

Re: II.KG30 16.Sept. 41

Luft QM returns show 16-9-1941 - II/KG30 - Feindflug - Moskowskibucht - Ju88A5 - 3306 - 90% due to Tech.Mangel . No crew names shown so I suppose there were no causilties, if the damage was 90% probaly another Ju88 was the one flown by the Russians,

regards
