KG51 Losses French Campaign 1940.

Hi could anybody possibly help with info on KG51 losses sustained on 19.5.40.
If anybody has Peter Cornwell's excellent book on hand, and be willing to help, id be most grateful.

Looking for details of Oblt Schallenberg's crew and demise, also that of Lt Franz Thelen also.

Best regs,
Steve.

Steve,

Peter has the following on page 328:-

"3./KG 51 - Ju 88A-1 beleived shot down by 3 Potez 631s of ECN 1/13 and 4/13 north of Braine and crashed at Nampeel, between Soissons and Noyon, am.

Fw. M Pfeiffer and Uffz K Lang killed.
Oblt. W. Schallenberg baled out badly wounded, died later in hospital in Soissons.

Fw. M. Roggentin baled out unhurt captured. Aircraft a write-off."

Hope that this helps. If you need anything else looked up PM me.

Will post Thelen's notes shortly.

Re: KG51 Losses French Campaign 1940.

and now for Thelen....

"5./KG 51 - Junkers Ju 88A-1 - believed shot down by F/L Scoular of No 73 Squadron after an attack on Chateau-Thierry station and crashed near Courville, south of Fismes, 11.30 am.

Lt F Thelen and Fw H Badura killed. Gefr H. Blicker baled out and captured wounded. Uffz. R Ruthrich captured unhurt.

Aircraft a write-off."

Can I just say what a facinating study this book is.
