He111 1/KG54 22.5.40

Hi, could anybody confirm an incident involving He111 B3+CH 1/KG54 in a belly landing at Gutersloh, Germany on 22.5.40 ?

Also seeking the name of the Staffelkapitan of 2/KG54 circa 10.5.40

Any help appreciated,
Steve.

Steve,

I have no record for a belly landing of B3+CH on that date at Gutersloh. May I ask what your source is?

Regards,
Rudi.

Hi Rudi, thanks for checking.
My source is from an Ebay listing either last year or earlier this year. Sadly i didnt manage to get a scan of the said a/c before the listing expired.
There was also i believe a shot of B3+LH also at Gutersloh dated 2.3.40.

Steve.

Re: He111 1/KG54 22.5.40

Hi Steve,

The first picture you're referring to was B3+CP, not B3+CH. It had a stamp on the back of the "Fliegerhorstkommandatur Gütersloh" with the date of entry of May 22nd 1940. So this is the date this picture entered into the "Kommandatur's administration", not necessarily the date of the mishap. II./KG54 was stationed at Gütersloh from May 17th till June 3rd 1940 at Gütersloh.

Still looking for the second picture. I'll let you know when I found it.

No info on the StaKa I'm afraid.

Regards,
Rudi.

Hi Rudi, thanks very much for confirming this being as B3+CP and not B3+CH. What exactly was the Kommandatur's administration function or process.

Steve.

Steve,

I guess the Fliergerhorstkommandantur had the same administration function as all armed forces admin services: you stamp all documents coming in with a date stamp & write down on them to who you send them. :-)

Rudi.

Steve,

I can't find anything on a B3+LH at Gutersloh dated 2.3.40.

Regards,
Rudi.
