Re: JG26 losses on 6.4.1945 and 12.10.1944
Hi Steve,
It looks like Alain gave you the losses for Dec 10, 1944, not Oct 12, 1944. You can find what you are looking for in JG26 War Diary, Volume II by Don Caldwell. I highly recommend you purchase this book if you have an interest in JG26. You will not find a better reference on this Jagdgeschwader anywhere. Re: JG26 losses on 6.4.1945 and 12.10.1944
Hello Steve,
On October 12 1944, JG26 pilots face some Fighter Groups of the 8th Air Force. The I/JG26 was attached from above over Hannover and lost 3 FW-190 A8 (3 KIA), no claims. The II/JG26 was attached by P51 near Hannover and lost 5 FW-190 A8 (3 KIA, 1 WIA), no claims. The III/JG26 was attached by P51 near Bremervorde and lost 5 Me-109 G14 (2 KIA, 1 WIA), no claims. The only victory (P-51) was claimed by Ge CO Obstlt. Priller. On April 6th 1945, the IV/JG26 lost 2 FW-190 D9 (2 POW) in combat west of Stolzenau, probably shot down by Tempest fighters of the 56th Squadron, which claimed 3 FW-190 for no losses. (source: Donald Caldwell - The JG26 War Diary, Volume 2) Let me know if you need additional info. Regards Marco |

Hi Marco, hi to all,
many thanks for your kind help. I`ll try to get the book you recommended. Marco: I'd highly appreciate it if you could give additional info about the two Fw190 losses on April 6th 1945. Following the great book of Shores & Thomas (2nd TAF) both pilots became pow. Again - many thanks to all! kind regards Steve |

Hello
Uffz Alois Horner (13./JG26) and Uffz Wolfgang Schneider (14./JG26) where shot down and became POW at Nendorf (2 NM W. Stolzenau) on 6 April 1945 . Here are the entries I have . Obfw Fritz Ungar had to make a belly landing (Fw 190d-9 black 11) after being hit in the engine in that area . Eric |
