Kertsch - Airfields?

There are supposed to be several AFs in the area of Kerch/Crimea. At least, the Lw used at least two names:
- Bagerowo and
- Kertsch IV

Additionally, I found out that an AF in "Kertsch-Katerles" which was used by Lw-transports in early 1943 is todays "Kerch-Voykovo", NE of the city center.

Now, my questions:
Are there other AFs, as indicated by the number "IV"? Is maybe Katerles the same like Bagerowo or "Kertsch IV" or something like that?

Re: Kertsch - Airfields?

There were, in fact, 6 Kerch airfields:
Kerch I (ZNr. 1480)
Kerch II (ZNr. 1019)
Kerch III (ZNr. 621)
Kerch IV (ZNr. 2051)
Kerch V (ZNr. 3647)
Kerch VI (ZNr. 4124)

ZNr. = Ziel nummer.

As for Bagerovo it was a separate airfield 14 km WNW of Kerch. (ZNr. 4436).

We have no record of a "Kertsch-Katerles" or a "Kerch-Voykovo", which presumeably is one of the above airfields renamed.

We hope this helps.

Re: Kertsch - Airfields?

Re: Kertsch - Airfields?

We have grid square numbers (Mq.) but all the Kerch a/fs have the same Mq. number!

Re: Kertsch - Airfields?

Hello Doug,

I'm interested in this ZielNr. airfield designations. Were all aifields so designated by the germans? Also, what is the source and if you know, where could such a list be obtained?

thanks,
Tom

Re: Kertsch - Airfields?

The ZNr.s are mentioned in a number of sources but the only concentrated source is the "Übersichtsliste der Flugplätze SU" lists produced by Ic/Ob.d.L. The BA-MA in Freiburg has it.
