Sam L. Silber

Does anyone know the date of promotion of Sam L. Silber to Cdr? And his real name is Sam or it might be a nickname of Samuel? Thank you for your information.

Re: Sam L. Silber

Sam was a native of Baltimore MD, USA. His name shows up in all naval references known to me as "Sam L. Silber" not Samuel. The same is true regarding his presidency of the M Club (Univ. of Maryland sports alumni organization) and the Maryland squash association of which he was also president. I suspect his given name or at least the official name he adopted for military and other professional purposes was Sam rather than Samuel.
