"RUDOLF FENTEN"

Hello All,

So far in my new Journey to find out as much as possible about; Rudolf Fenten(Pilot) of BF-109G-2 R/6 WNR.013927 with: "Yellow 6" Jagdstaffel 6/II/JG5, has been through a fellow Member(HORST).

I am trying desperately to get as close as possible to what this / His Aircraft both looked like as well as it's Color Scheme and Unit Markings.

Mr. Fenten was brought down by AAA (Anti Aircraft Artilery) on Febuary 19, 1943 over (Kandalatschka) Russia. Which I was told was in the North?

The reason I am asking for help is due to wanting to depict this Aircraft/ area that it was brought down in as accurate as possible for a Painting that I want to do on an actual piece of this Aircraft that I purchased recently from Mike, who has what is left of this craft.

Thank you ahead of time for any and all help that can be provided.

Sincerely,

Donnie (P47Reece).

Hello!

Others surely will follow with info for the a/c colours and markings. But for finding locations in Russia I would recommend this site:

http://www.fallingrain.com/world/RS

Kandalaksha (Kantalahti) is in Murmansk area, so click the row "Murmanskaya Oblast'" (seems this program created direct link on the left, click it!). Clicking forward the alphabetical listing you will find page with map and other data for Kandalaksha. Also satellite image link is given for clicking. This might (or not!) help creating the landscape for you painting. Note that Kandalaksha is a coastal town.

Image search with AltaVista/ Google etc. with searchword Kandalaksha or Кандалакша might help. The town homepage has photo gallery at: http://kandalaksha.org/gallery/index.php
this might give some ideas.

Enjoy your painting!
Kari

Hi Donnie.

To my knowledge there are no photos of Fenten's Yellow 6, but in my view it is a very fair bet that it would have looked very similar to the other G-2/R-6s of 6./JG 5 at the time.

As is well know they were finished in the special scheme of 6./JG 5 consisting of RLM 70 dark green and white "blobs" over either a standard grey scheme or in some cases a desert scheme. One example of the former was Rudi Müller's "Yellow 3", see profile and photo below. Markings would also be similar, except for the numeral, of course.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Kjetil Aakra

P.S. It would be great to see your paiting whern finished!
