RLM colours and Tamiya (acrylic) paints

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone has a list of what mixes of Tamiya paints equates to the various RLM colours?
I am aware of the IPMS charts (and all the inconsistencies in them when trying to compare across the various paint brands such as Humbrol, Tamiya and Gunze). I also have the Vol 2 of the Luftwaffe Colours book with the paint chips in it but these don't help when trying to find modern paint equivalents (without going to the local paint shop and getting them to colour analysis each chip and make a pot of paint up!).
But things like RLM 02 and 70, 71 have no direct Tamiya match and need to be mixed. Does anyone have what ratios they use for achieving this?
Also, IS there a range of paints (preferably acrlyics) that include the RLM colours as part of the range?

thanks in advance.

If you have this book and color chips you can with easy mix it by your self.

Cheers

Re: RLM colours and Tamiya (acrylic) paints

Hi Pilot,
Thanks for the reply.

I have spoken to a local paintshop and they have a colour analyser and say they have a 90-95% reproduction rate. So I plan on getting them to do a trial run of 'sample pots' (200ml/cc pots) from the RLM colour chips I have from the second vol of the Luftwaffe Colours Book by Classic Colours publishing.

No experience on acrylics, I use enamels, but the problem is the same.
Just in case this could help, you can try these references:

http://www.jpsmodell.de/main_e.htm

As you notice in the JPS paints, it is supposed that they follow Merrick and Kiroff´s books.

Regards. Saludos

There is a company in Germany that makes all the CORRECT RLM colours. It is matched to the exact finish and colour. The company is Farben Kiroff Technik. They provide colour matches for all restorations - in small bottles spray cans, and containers...

Those are the colors sold by JPS as the "Kiroff Edition" they need to be lightened to look good on small scalemodel though. In their RLM76 I think I have more white color than original 76 for it to look right. I can still recommend them though, they're great for several reasons...

Re: RLM colours and Tamiya (acrylic) paints

Hi all,
Thanks for the info and links.
I have ordered some paint from JPS.
I have also posted a Microsoft Excel chart from various sources on what Tamiya paints equate to what RLM colours (I may add in a few other nations as well).
