Arndt III/KG30 shot down early-mid 1942

Hi guys

Browsing Hajo Herrmann's Eagles Wings, he mentions that one of his pilots - Faehnrich ARNDT - was the sole survivor of a Ju88 shot down by Russian fighters sometime before July 1942.

Can anyone provide a date and idenity of crew etc please?

Cheers
Brian

Re: WNr.142065 of 9./KG30 shot down 9.June 1942

Ju 88A-4 WNr.142065 of 9./KG 30, coded 4D+CT

Uffz. Johann Hasler MIA 9.June 1942 with crew (B Uffz. Gerhard Hirschlach, Bf Uffz. Hans Decker & Bs Uffz. Karl Thanner) , cause unknown, (mission to Murmansk).

The loss reports sometimes truncate Werknummern.

Hello GRM
Most of what you have is correct. However at this time Werner was an Uffz., and not an Oblt. The target was not a bridge near Kemi. Airfield Kemi was their base and was situated far away from the front. A not trusted unknown reference stated that the aircraft was attacked by Russian planes on a mission to Russia but was able to return only to crash shortly before landing back at airfield Kemi.

Greetings from winter cold Norway
Knut

Mr. Sheridan, you're welcome.

Mr. Larsson, Thank you for the corrections. With so many entries, Jim and I always appreciate another detail.
