9V+MK, what kind of Ju-290 was this?

Hi all,

9V+MK was a Ju290 that was used in the evacuation of Met-personnel from Greenland to Værnes, Norway, in the summer of 1944. I have seen this referred to as both an A-5 and A-7. Which is correct?
Apparently the later KG200 code was A3+BP.

I appreciate all input, also pointers to where this might be found.

Kyrre

Many thanks for the reply, Junker. Good to know, except that I'm a bit disappointed, having built an A-5 which was going to receive those markings, to depict the only 290 that to my knowledge was in Norway.

Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if information about reco flights between France and Sola or Værnes occured at some point.

@Remi: Yes, there is a bit of information about this flight, though I don't have the details here at the moment.

Regards,
Kyrre

Re: 9V+MK, what kind of Ju-290 was this?

Remi,

I believe the Condor was coded F8+RL of 3/40 crew of Oblt, Stahnke, it damaged its undercarriage on landing at Alexandra Land on the 6th or 7th. July 1944. spares were dropped by the Bv222 and the mission was completed on 11th July. I think the other crew of the Condor were Ohfr.Ablasmeier, Ltn. Behastadt, Fw. Wecheler, Uffz Kirchoff, Uffz Resler and Stab.Artz. Wende. Unfortunately I only have a rough note of this so the name spellings may not be correct,

Hello Ju55dk,

You omitted one null from Ju 290 A-7 W.Nr. - it actually was 2900110190
(this is confirmed by factory plate from 2900110157, discussed on LEMB forum recently - posted by Stephen F. Polyak and dated 31.08.2008.)

cheers'

Thanks for the update, Ed. Long time no see. My Ju88D-6 is coming along, slowly, slowly does it.
