Cazaux or Cazeaux ?
Gentlemen - or rather Messieurs,
I'm somewhat at a loss concerning the correct spelling and location of an airfield used by the Luftwaffe - in particular a number of fighter training units - near Bordeaux - in some sources the name is spelt as Cazaux, in others, although undoubtedly referring to the same place, as Cazeaux. A look into the maps shows a number of places and locations of either name - so what was the correct name and location of the airfield in question ? Any help will be appreciated. Regards Jochen Prien |

Re: Cazaux or Cazeaux ?
Bonjour M.Prien,
The good orthograph is "CAZAUX". These airfield, used by Luftwaffe during the WW2, is the Base Aerienne 120 where young French fighters learn on Alphajet. You will find photos and informations about CAZAUX during the WW2 in the excellent book of Erik Mombeeck, "Dans le Ciel de France, histoire de la JG2 "Richthofen", volume 2 (1941) Regards, Frédéric |

Such a beautiful place to hunt pilot in CSAR exercises... Very nice memories of this airbase and its lovely lake (were Germans took baths). Best regards ClinA-78 |
