Re: 1st Lt Bayne Donald 0-743397

Good evening Alaine !

Donald B. Bayne came down at about 11:30 hrs at the location Domäne Hillesheim near Hilleshei, Kreis Daun, Germany. He burnt with his aircraft so heavy. that only a few remains of his body were found by German authoritties. These remains were buried in a hurry somewhere nearby, but were postwar not found again.

The crash location is well knwn as well the fate of the pilot. All postwar attempts (at least five) by U.S. Grave registration and CILHY at the crash location to find remains failed up to now. This is the reason why this pilot is still MIA.

Hope, this helps !

All the best
