Wellington loss?

Hi

Trying to find out if a Vickers Wellington was lost on the night of 30th December 1944 over Luxembourg?

Doubt it belonged to Bomber Command. I recall 69Sqn had Wellingtons at Moelsbrok? Belgium. Could be the same squadron. Seems like it could have been a contender as it was reported circling over Luxumbourg (The mission was to drop flares and locate German troop movements at night).

Anyone got an aircraft that could tie in. Could find nothing on lost bombers?

regards

Mark

Re: Wellington loss?

Sounds more like a Mosquito of 464 Squadron lost patrolling for MET over N Lux / S Bel on the night of 31 December, W/O Bradley and F/Sgt Blue both KIA.

Re: Wellington loss?

Just for the record: it's Melsbroek instead of Moelsbrok.

Re: Wellington loss?

Hello,

I can confirm this particular Mosquito has crashed near the hamlet of "Six Planes" (sic!) near Gros Fays, situated +/- 12 km NW of Bouillon, thus in the Belgian Province of Luxembourg.

Best regards
