Smile BF-109E III./SKG 210 pictures

Hello guys

I need help with information (and pictures) of a BF-109E-7, III./SKG-210. I'm using a decal set from SuperScale No 48-828 to represent this Messerschmitt, but I want to confirm that S9+CD is correct.
Thanks,

Hi jcasilimas

S9+CD did exist but with 9./ZG 1. Here is a poor quality photo:

Re: BF-109E III./SKG 210 pictures

Chris,
S9+CD was not 9./ZG 1. It was from the Gruppenstab of III./ZG 1. That photo in your post was taken at Prague-Rusin(sp?) airfield, according to published sources.

jcasilimas,
SKG 210 only had a Geschwaderstab and I. and II. Gruppen. When the unit was re-designated in January 1942 a III. Gruppe was added, with Bf 109 E-7 fighter-bombers.

Re: BF-109E III./SKG 210 pictures

Thanks John for putting me right, of course a D as the last letter is Staff aircraft of the 3rd Group. You are also correct that the photo's taken at Prague -Ruzin (I think that's how it's spelt) and maybe the accident that wrote off the aircraft.

Javier, I am sorry I do not have a source for the photo, here are some profiles of the aircraft:

Regards

Chris

Re: BF-109E III./SKG 210 pictures

I think it could be as follows:
20th May 1942
III. Gruppe ZG 1
Bf 109 E-7
W. Nr. 6027
20% damage
Crashed on take-off
Prague-Rusin/Ruzin airfield

That's the only entry that I can find in my 'Sting of the Luftwaffe' that would match that photo.

Hope this helps.
