localisation of LW training base

Hello,

In order to locate the posting of Oblt. Otto Hummel (II./JG 26), I am researching the localisation of his training places for a relative.

1°) from March '41 to July '42 : Schülerkomp. Fl. Ausb.-Regt.23
2°) from July '42 to September '42 : Jagdflg. Vorschule 1
3°) from October '42 to January '43: Jagdflg. Schule 2
4°) from January '43 to February '43 : Jagdgruppe "West"
5°) from February '43 to March '43: Jagdgruppe "Ost"

Is one of those posting far from Corbeil (F) ? Was there a LW training base in the area of Corbeil?

Thank you very much of your attention.

Best regards

Re: localisation of LW training base

Hi there,
don't have the time at the moment to check on a map, but here is something you can start from:

http://ww2.dk/ground/infanterie/flausb23.html
http://ww2.dk/air/schule/jfvs1.htm
http://ww2.dk/air/schule/jfvs2.htm
http://ww2.dk/air/jagd/jgrwest.htm
http://ww2.dk/air/jagd/jgrost.htm

Hope this helps!

Christian

Hello Christian,

Thanks for the links, its helps!
I see Bretigny airport is situated West of Corbeil, was it a training base used by LW and by which unit?

Best regards

Nicolas

That's an easy one, too, Nicolas - thanks to the Internet (which does not replace real research and is not flawless by far, I know, but it helps a lot and can give your research a good start)

Just type the following into the Google search bar and see what comes up:

bretigny site:ww2.dk

Cheers,
Christian

Re: localisation of LW training base

Hello Christian,

I am from "old fashion school" despite my young age (30) and I am not keen of internet so. Prefer sweat on ground researches, that pay but it learns to be patient... but I may recognize internet helps, for instance GoogleEarth is a tremendous instrument. But thanks for your input.

Best regards

Nicolas
