Hi and Merry Christmas,

Maybe somebody could help me with this one, I'm after the "Kennzeichen" for this HE-111 :

Heinkel He 111 H-5 Lindåsen Hidra. Vest-Agder
6/Luftnachrichtenregiment. WNr.3548 8.4 1942
Flieger/ Fw. Erich John. Flieger/ Ofw. Kurt Jennewein. Bordfunker/ Uffz. Karl Heinz Kunnert. Bordmec. Uffz. Herman Lorenz. Hptm. Helmut Frank. All died in this accidental crash.

Warmest regards,
Jagdkomm.

Hi.

The GenQu does not list the Verbandskennzeichen for this one and I would guess that the best way to prceed is to specifically ask for this in a request to the WASt as it might be on the NVM for the crew.

Regards,
Andreas B

Halloen,

Thx., I'll call my friend at WASt next week then.
Received a photo showing the tail of a HE-111 and as the photo is taken in '42 + that the other photos were taken in Aust-and Vest-Agder, this must be the same plane like the one Kjell S. has published. But it seems that the unit is wrong. 2 letters are visible on the tail though.

The SKz. may be 'GD+LL'. He 111H-5 WNr. 3543 coded 'GD+LG' was lost 3 days earlier with KGr.z.b.V. 5 while in the East. Loss data I have for WNr. 3548: He 111H-5, 3548, Frank, Hptm. Helmut (B)/John, Fw. Erich (F), , 6., Ln.Flg.Versuchs-Kp., , , , , 08-Apr-42, Crew killed in crash., , Fl.Truppe-Sonstige/Norwegen, Gen.Qu.6.Abt. (mfm #5)-Vol.8, , bei Kristiansand, 100%, H, 2.F Ofw. Kurt Jennewein, Bf Uffz. Karl-Heinz Kunert & Bm Uffz. Hermann Lorenz, ,

Thenelm,

I'm very impressed, and thank u so much for a quick and supplementary info about this "maschine".

Actually on the photo u can easily see the two letters, but when u first look at it, it looks more like 'GO' or 'G0', but this can probably not be correct anyway. Also half the "Balkenkreuz" is visible + a white band on its tail. It seems to have gone straight into the mountain.

The other photos that belonged to this photo came from the area of Arendal and Kristiansand and several was dated 1942, but not this photo. But the plane must be 'GD+LL' as u wrote.

Warmest regards,
Jagdkomm.

Also, 3548 was previously with I/KG26 with whom it suffered 30% damage on 7 December 1940, crew unhurt. I would agree with the factory code too, it certainly ties in with my info on other aircraft from the production batch. Otherwise I can't add anything else to the above!

Regards,

David
