Luftwaffen Lazarett

Hi
I'm looking for the exact location of the Luftwaffen Lazarett 4/XII given to be at Orleans.
I think that it wasn't at Orleans but at Olivet, a little village in the south of the town.
Could someone confirm or deny?
Regads
Franck

Re: Luftwaffen Lazarett

The following link http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=12135 gives the following details.

Lw.-Lazarett (o) 4/XII
Orléans/France as Lw.-Lazarett Orléans then moved to Bad Herrenalb/14 km ENE of Baden Baden in August-September 1944. 700 beds. FpN: L 54296.

Any interest/help?

Kind regards

Ross

Re: Luftwaffen Lazarett

Hi Ross
That's the same information I have. But I suppose that the appelation " Orleans " isn't good. Furthermore, the capacity of 700 beds seems to be a little bit high for the city of Orleans.
I try to find another information source among the former people.
If I find a new information, I will reply to this post.
Regards
Franck
Ps: the link you give on your post isn'tthe good way to the website you indicate.

Franck -

I am the author of that information which came directly from Ob.d.L./OKL documents. If it is wrong, and Laz. (o) 4/XII was actually somewhere else, then the Luftwaffe's information is wrong. But I think the Sanitäts-Direktor d.Lw. had little reason to misstate, intentionally or unintentionally, the locations and capacities of his hospitals. It probably refers to Orleans in the broader meaning and it could very well have been in a suburb of the city, such as Olivet. But if the Herr Direktor had listed it at Olivet, who would have known where that was? On the other hand, if it is listed as being at Orleans just about everyone knows where that is.

Re: Luftwaffen Lazarett

Hello Larry
I don't question your information nor those of the luftwaffe's archives . I 'm only trying to place the hospital and one in my sources indicated me the village of Olivet which is in some kilometers in the South of Orleans.
But there were other German units in this sector; It can be that my source made a mistake.
If I thing the exact location, I will contact you.
Regards
Franck
