Plt Off Blain 141 Sqn
Can anyone tell me the christian name or initials of this AG who flew with 141 Sqn late 40-early 41. Some books say it was F Blain, others L M (if so he was killed with 9 Sqn in May 42)?

Our earlier comms refer. The Combat Report certainly gives Pilot Officer A BLAIN, although the second and possibly third initials are tricky to read. It could be A W BLAIN or A Mc BLAIN. |

Re: Plt Off Blain 141 Sqn
Chris,
I have him as Leonard Manley Blain, 79228. The Oct 1940 Air Force List has four Blains, 81585 A Blain, APO (A) 8.7.40; 21233 DF Blain, FL (A) 4.9.40; 74919, HA Blain, FL (Ad), 1.9.39; 79228 LM Blain, PO(G), 15.6.40. The only one that makes sense to me is the latter. Frank.

I agree that L M makes sense, although the Combat Report initials seem to bear little resemblance to L M, although it could just be me. The first initial looks to be a quite definite A: Last edited by Andy Saunders; 23rd March 2010 at 14:40. |
