Interesting Fw 190 G photos
Just came across two shots of abandoned Fw 190 G, probably from S.K.G. 10 or III./K.G. 51 -

Re: Interesting Fw 190 G photos
Hi Pawel, nice find. These photos from your first post remind me of other Fw 190 with small stenciled codes, like "A3+18" from KG200 found at Frankfurt or the attached example (from an expired Tonelli auction). As this kind of marking is quite rare I wonder whether all of those Fw190s belonged to KG200...

Re: Interesting Fw 190 G photos
The "9" letter was certainly sprayed with stencil template. The style is similar to the letter "6" of Fw190D-11,"White 61", although the letter "1" of the "White 61" was not divided to 2 parts.
(VFS des Gdj dora's numbers seem like mostly sprayed with stencil templates, at least "5" and "6" were divided to 2 parts. I feel like "8" of "White58", turned to "Red4" of JV44, might be so...) |

Re: Interesting Fw 190 G photos
There was an ebay auction some time ago (listed by Ed) with photos of Fw 190 with small stencilled numbers (if I remember correctly signed S.K.G. 10 on the back). I think I saved the previews to my computer at work so I'll try to post them later.

Re: Interesting Fw 190 G photos
Pawel, what in those pics identifies the a/c as a Fw190G?

Re: Interesting Fw 190 G photos
Photos from the first link - it would be small pylon under the wing (part of underwing fuel tank mount).
And the BA photograph was among other photographs of Fw 190 Gs of S.K.G. 10 (or III./K.G. 51). |

Christian: while A3+18 of 11./KG 200 did have a stencilled code, III./KG 200 only ever reported Fw 190 F-8s on strength. The marking is also consistent with an aircraft of I./SKG 10 depicted in Frappé's "La Luftwaffe face au Débarquement Alliée." I./SKG 10 became III./KG 51 in June 1944 and NSG 20 in November. That unit operated G-3s and F-8s. NSG 20 and 11./KG 200 shared a base in early 1945, so they may also have shared a stencil. |
