Georg-Peter Eder
I was wondering how many jet kills did Eder have actually confirmed during the war. Some sources say 12, others 14 and some say as high as 24? But I was curious as to how many were confirmed by the time of his accident on the 22 of January 1945. It is rather confusing because he had about 54 kills by the time he transferred to EKdo 262 in Sept. 1944. Yet, on 25 Nov. 1944 he was awarded the Oakleaves for 60 kills. That's only six jet victories by this time. Overall his score doesn't seem to add up. He's credited with 78 victories, 68 in the West, but if he transferred to Ekdo 262 with 54 kills, this means he must have had at least 24 jet kills confirmed. But this doesn't sound right. Maybe he claimed that many, but I'd like to know if anyone knows how many he actually had confirmed by Jan. 1945, because if its lower than 24 than is score of 78 would be lower. (I'm interested in the claims that were confirmed during the war, I'm not looking for any post war readjustament at this time.) Sorry for the long post.

Good evening Krichter33;
There's a post on Eder here at http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=6162 . Second entry has his list of missions flown and kills.

Re: Georg-Peter Eder
Thank you for your reply, but it's this list that confuses me. For example if you count how many jet kills Eder claims by Nov. 25 1944, it is 18, not including those marked probable. This brings is score of 54 before joining Ekdo 262 to 72. But in the text it says he was awarded the RK on Nov. 25 1944 for 60 kills. That's why I'd like to know if there is any info out there as to how many jet kills mere confirmed by the RLM.

Re: Georg-Peter Eder
Funny thing about Eder was that none of his Jet kills turn up in the Micro-Films, they should as his comrades are recorded on the films, which leads me to believe that probably none were confirmed in 1944, and there was little time(basically just January) in 1945 to do so! He only recorded forty-eight confirmed kills in piston engined aircraft also!

Georg-Peter Eder
I am attempting to compile a detailed list of the 'kill' claims submittted (and subsequently verified) by George-Peter Eder, and have thus far discovered the following concerning his credited 78 kills:
Using Les Butler's & Tony Greenwood's exhaustive site 'Combat Claims and Casualties' I have located 64 kills that were confirmed by the Reichs Luft Ministerium (RLM) and 1 which was not granted. Of the 64 kills, 16 Me-262 kills are recorded, although I have read (Obermeier among others) that his Me-262 kill total may of been 26? and his overall total being 78 and not 64. My question is where has this disparagy came from? As I said I can only locate one kill claim turned down and no mention of the additional 10 claims to make the 26 kills using an Me-262. As a point of note, I am also attempting to compile a list of Heinrich Baer's kills and I noted that his claims were submitted and approved right up until the end of the war. Any help at all in tidying this matter up will be very well received indeed. Regards Richard. |

Re: Georg-Peter Eder
The fun part only really comes when you start trying to match the list up with Allied losses, of course!
