Re: Bf 109 at Bodo Norway, late 1945.

The only Bf 109 left behind at Bodö in May 1945, were 7 Bf 109G-8/R-5 that had served with 1./N.A.Gr.32. They had W.Nos. 200026, 200051, 201499, 201761, 201825, 201833 and 202091. All of them were destroyed at Bodö by RAF Air Disarmament units in the summer/autumn of 1945.
In the last strength report issued by 1./N.A.Gr.32, the unit had in addition to the 7 Bf 109G-8/R-5, 2 Fw 189A-2, 2 Fw 189A-3 and 3 Fi 156C-3 all at Bodö + one Fi 156D that remained at Bardufoss.

I find it hard to belive that this photo is from Bodø. Take a look at the trees, the buildings and where is the mountains? After 5 year with buying on the ebay, i have learn that saying a photo is from Norway, it is worth a lot more money than other places, and the sellers know that! Beware of faking the history!

Re: Bf 109 at Bodo Norway, late 1945.

Hello,
Can you read the W.Nr. from the original? Looks like "2020??" perhaps 202091 even when I enlarge it.....if so it is the a/c mentioned in 'Seaplanes' post.
There is a tower visible right over the covered up Bf109 9+, perhaps from an airport building control tower.
I agree with 'Kjeller' that there is reason to be cautious when buying eBay images. Regarding the comments about mountains; I would like to remind that sometimes the mountains are hidden in mist or low clouds why they might be there but invisible the day when the image was taken. I believe it's also pending upon the direction the image was taken (I've been to the Bodö region for fishing several weeks in the summer over the years)
Cheers
Goran

Re: Bf 109 at Bodo Norway, late 1945.

This looks very much like other pics of 109's claimed to have been taken at Sola/Forus in May '45. Alledgedly belonging to the new 7./JG5 (and what looks like yellow numbers fit in with a 4-staffel Gruppe-system)
Having said that the werkenummer does seem to fit in with the list from Bodø. And there's no problem taking pictures in Bodø with no mountains. All you have to do is point the camera directly towards the West. (I was born in Bodø and have spent quite some time there the last years as well.
