Position of swastica on tails of Luftwaffe a/c during the Polish Campaign?
Hello,
I've always thought that Luftwaffe a/c during the Polish Campaign carried their swasticas in the center of the tail, and that photos showing this on the fin only had to be from at least a little later period. However, I've recently been made aware of a photo of a force-landed He111 that has the swastica on the fin, rather than centered on the tail and which appears to show an a/c down during the PC. It has a hand-written caption on the back indicating this. Can anyone confirm that at least a few Luftwaffe a/c were carrying the swastica on the fin at the time of the PC? I don't want to reject the dating of the photo if I've been wrong in my assumption. Thanks, |
