Mysterious code on a Ju 52

Hi!

Looks like BSt E (or BS1 E).
B stands for Beckmann, hence KGr.zbV. 500 and E is the individual letter (I assume).
But what does this St or S1 stand for? Staffel 1?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

Re: Mysterious code on a Ju 52

Hi Chris,
according to Kössler´s booklet on Luftwaffe transports "S" or "St" stands for Stab (staff), so this Ju was from the Gruppenstab.

Greettings,

borborygm

Re: Mysterious code on a Ju 52

Hi

WNr. must be 7246 ! The tactical sign (Taktisches Kennzeichen) "B" belonged possible to KGrzbV.500 (see Kössler).
From Juli to Dec. 1941 these plane flown by BFS 6 in Wesendorf.

best wishes
JoMe

How can you read the Wnr?
It's blurred and illegible.

BTW, thanks to borborygm.

Sure, the photograph was taken during the Stalingrad airlift.

Re: Mysterious code on a Ju 52

Robert is right with the "B", the Wn where not guessed from the picture, myself guessed from the Wn 5253 whose STKZ is know nd near from the one of the picture, but I was wrong because these planes were built before 1939, so their STKZ don't follow the Wn serie, but were given from their location when the STKZ system was established in autumn 1939, Jochen seems to hv found the Wn + STKZ assosciated in maybe a log-book or any other doc. , to add that the 7246 was a plane of the KGrzbv500 but was damaged by Landing in july 42, % given is 60 % , norm. planes at that % end their life there, but...
