Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
I'm looking for a good copy of the unit crest of 10 Flieger Kompanie/ Luftnachrichten Regiment 40 (10.Fl.Kp/Ln. Rgt.40) as at September 1942. I understand that the crest shows a long-tail monkey with a radio set and sitting in a plam tree. The crest also shows a lightning bolt striking through the crest from upper right to lower left. Can anyone help?

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
Hi,
According to this site: http://www.ww2.dk/ground/ln/ln40.html it is doubtful that htese was a Flieger Kp. in Ln.-Rgt 40, a Flugmelde Kp. sounds more likely. The crests of these units were most often composed as shown here: http://www.gyges.dk/heraldics.htm about half way down. As you can see the common design was a unit specific crest with the crest of the Ln-Dienst in the upper let hand part. bregds SES |

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
SES, I was given my information by a former member of 10.Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40 - so I think that you might be mistaken re. the identity of the unit. However, thanks for contributing.

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
I have to back SES up on this matter. None of the Ln.Rgt. had a Flieger Kompagnie under them. They were either Flug Melde, Funkmess or something like that.

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
Well, Junker, I think that I am going to have to disagree with both of you. My information comes from a former Oberleutnant who served with the unit from August 1941 until April 1943. I suppose that we could assume that he does not know what he is talking about - but the assumption might just be groundless. Nevertheless, thanks for your contribution.

Hi,
the 10.th Kp. was based as follows in Greece and after 12.43 changed in Flieger-Kp., i think Bill Norman is right 10.Kp. Fp.Nr. 28 578 04.41-12.43, dann Fl.Kp. Ln.Rgt. Südost / in Athen, 12.42 in Iraklion-Kreta Do 17 mit FF. Ofw. Auga m. BF. Ofw. Heinzelmann, BM. Uffz. Gerhard, alle (+) 18.12.42 südl. Tymbakion Kreta |

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
I have scrutinized the page with the ORBAT of Ln.Rgt. 40 and there is indeed a Flieger Kp., but there is no 10. Flieger Kp.

Re: Crest - 10 Flieger Kompanie/Ln.Rgt.40
Well SES if you check the Feldpostnumber, there is indeed a 10 Fl.Kmp.
