Re: Strafing Hazebrouck M/Y January 1945
There's a strong possibility that it was a night fighter. A number of NF Gruppen were carrying out intruder/ground attack operations at this time.

Re: Strafing Hazebrouck M/Y January 1945
Hello!
It cannot be proven conclusively but circumstantial evidence may let us think these were Ju 88 G6 from NJG2 coming from Marx or Varel in Northern Germany. Indeed, one of them S/N 620578 , 4R+IT from 9. Staffel could not avoid trees in Nielles-les-Bléquin, 37 km from Hazebrouck, around 00:00AM that night (4 KIA). They were following the St Omer/Desvres Railway line executing the same harassment mission... JVM |
