St Kap 3/NJG 1, 1941

Can anyone confirm who took command of 3/NJG 1 after the death of Oblt Werner Hansen on 10 Feb 41?

Hello Chris,

A typical I.NJG 1 question so I might have also the answer for you: it was Oblt. Walter Fenske who on his turn was succeeded by Hptm. Siegfried Wandam.

All the best! Marcel Hogenhuis - Study Group Venlo Airfield in WW-2

Thanks-from 14/LG 1 Jul 40 to III/NJG 2 and then to 3/NJG 1. Anything else on Huchel, Marcel?

Re: St Kap 3/NJG 1, 1941

Hello Chris,

Fenske: his posting with the III.NJG 2 was after he has been in the I.NJG 1.
Huchel: on a list of October 1940, Hptm. (der Reserve) August Huchel was "Major beim Stabe" with the II.NJG 1 since 1th November 1940. He came from the Luftnachrichten Komp. 4/XI on 8th April 1940 (still the I.ZG 76 then I guess?)

Additional comment on Knoetzsch: he was with the II.NJG 1 up to 18th October 1940 > then he went to the I.NJG 3.

All the best, Marcel
