A Me-109 crashed at Beverlo (Genemeer),Belgium,± 11.30 p.m. on Aug.17-1943.
The pilot (possible JG26 FF)bailed out and landed near the 'Baltische Kamp' Kriegsgefangenenlager near Beringen, Belgium. I'm looking for the name of the pilot. Which Me-109 crashed there , that time of day ? ( Werk#? could lead me to the name)) Thanks for any info or lead, Co. |

Re: which Me.109 /which LWpilot downed on Aug 17-1943/Beverloo,Belgium
Hello,
Perhaps Ofw. Heinz Kemethmüller (9./JG 26) bailed out wounded near Leopoldsburg from his Bf 109 G-4 WNr.19216, White 6. Best regards ClinA-78 |

Re: which Me.109 /which LWpilot downed on Aug 17-1943/Beverloo,Belgium
Thanks for message.
Though it gives not the name that I hoped for. I'll narrow my question: ( www.mighty8thaf.preller.us/gallery/OurBaybee ) While co-downing a B-17 (42-30274) on Aug.17-1943 over Mol, Belgium 7/JG26 FF Werner Kraft was wounded by the victim's gunfire and at ± 11.30 crashlanded his Me-109 'somewhere' in the area. The "Ehrenbuch JG26" in the rel.report gives a non-existing crashlocation and up till now only the crashsite of an unknown Me-109 , named in my first mail (Beverlo/Leopoldsburg) at the matching time, came in the picture. If anyone should know more about the possible crash-landingslocation of FFWerner Kraft that time of that day in 1943, he's welcomed to give a reaction on this board Thanks i.a. Co. |

Kraft is reported near Hasselt - Waterloo, plane damaged 80% and Kraft wounded, reason was airbattle with B-17 - sadly no detailled informations.

Re: which Me.109 /which LWpilot downed on Aug 17-1943/Beverloo,Belgium
Hello,
I am always 'puzzled' by this particular crash location (?) : (between?) "Hasselt-Waterloo" which is quite a long way. Would Hasselt be the place of combat and Waterloo the crashlanding place? Moreover, I have Kraft's Bf 109 G-6 reported lost near Loenhout or Beverloo, so the quest continues. Do you have investigated the crashsite at Genemeer? As you find 7,9 mm or 13 mm bullets it would mean Bf 109 G-4 or G-6; so we can 'narrow' the ID. Best regards ClinA-78 |

Re: which Me.109 /which LWpilot downed on Aug 17-1943/Beverloo,Belgium
Thanks so far for co-thinking and research. The "Ehrenbuch JG26" gives as crashlocation 'Viorswlag/ Holland'
This seems to be some error. Communities in the great Mol area give this location as 'unknown', also in 1943 Geflogene Bf109 is G-6 Werknr. 19466, T.Z. gelbe 11. Crashlocation in Holland is more than unlikely, Kraft 9/JG 26, later 7/JG26, in onely short time was taken to the Marine Lazarett in Beverlo/ Leopoldsburg, so is known. Travelingpossibilities in 1943 exclude that. So the search has to go on. Any help welcome. Co. |
