Hallo,

Kunkel flew BF-109 K4 "red1" and Klötzer BF-109 K4 "red5" Probably Air Battle with P-51 Mustangs due to Eyewitness.
Wknr. for both "109" are unknown. Pilots were buried in Bad Nenndorf / Lower Saxony.

No 8th AF claims for 109s on 5 April, nor for the 354FG (9th AF) Mustangs - no MTO claims.

In the rest of the ETO the following squadrons had awards.. 12 and 15 RCN Sq/10 PRG (F-6/P-51), 161 RCN Sq/363PRG (Johnston - 4 in F-6/P-51), 377, 379 (Hagen -2) in P-47 and 393 FS in P-47 also. I do not know where these awards occurred but it appears that 10 PRG, and 363PRG are your likely suspects.
