Ju88A-4 3 août 1944

Ju 88A-4, 5874, Nitschke, Ltn. Walter, , , Einsatzgr., KG 101, , , , , 03-Aug-44, KIA due to Flak and enemy fighters. B also KIA, Bf & Bs WIA., See Verbande for 10-Aug-44., Lfl.3/FR, BA-MA Signatur RL 2 III/780, Flzg.-Unfälle und Verluste bei Schulen und usw., p.68, , Beautesnil, 80%, E, B Uffz. Herbert Rogowski, Bf Fw. Rudolf Köppel & Bs Uffz. Helmut Drechsler, ,

Uffz. Herbert Rogowski "mort" ( B=KIA)
Uffz. Helmut Dreschsler "blessé" ( Bs=WIA)
Fw. Rudolf Köppel "blessé" (Bs= WIA)
Qui a t-il à voir le 10 août ?
Joe

Hello from Normandy

Yes, I think this crash is mine. The common "Beautesnil" does not exist then, is a spelling error.

A really big thank you for your help.

If I understand correctly, Lt. Walter Nitschke died? Was it a crew member?
Uffz. Herbert Rogowski "death " (B = KIA)
Uffz. Helmut Dreschsler "wounded" (Bs = WIA)
Fw. Rudolf Köppel "wounded" (Bs = WIA)

Who does he see August 10?

You understand correctly the fate of the crew. Lt. Walter Nitschke was the pilot (in this format to display Lutfwaffe losses, the first name after the WNr is always the pilot when he is known).

Re: Ju88A-4 3 août 1944

Bonjour,
Merci pour cette précision.
"KIA due to Flak and enemy fighters" concerne l'appareil ou le pilote?
Dans le rapport de la gendarmerie de l'époque , il parle de "un mort et deux blessés"!
Joe

Hello,
Thank you for that.
"KIA due to flak and enemy fighters" on the device or the driver?
In the report of the gendarmerie at the time, he speaks of "one dead and two wounded!

Re: Ju88A-4 3 août 1944

Bonjour,
Joe

Hello,
I found it! Nitschke Lt. Walter is buried in the cemetery of St. Desire near Lisieux.
By cons I have not had an answer for Uffz. Rogowski Herbert!
Maybe he is not dead in the crash?
Joe

Re: Ju88A-4 3 août 1944

Strange, as Herbert Rogowski is buried in same cemetery, death date 3 August 1944 (search http://www.volksbund.de)

Death place noted by Volksbund = Beaumenil for Rogowski, Bernay for Nitschke. Beaumenil should be a Germanized form of Beaumesnil, some km SE of Bernay.

One possibility is that Rogowski bailed out and so died some distance of the crashplace, where gendarmes found the rest of the crew. Another is that Rogowski died at crashplace and Nitschke was one of the wounded and died after being carried to the nearby town, Bernay.

http://www.maplandia.com/france/haut...ay/beaumesnil/

Regarding your query, in this format KIA will be the fate of the pilot, "due to Flak and enemy fighters" will be the cause of loss of the aircraft, and so of the death of the pilot too.

Bonne journée

Laurent

Note the comment 'See Verbande for 10-Aug-44'. This refers to the Gen.Qu. Verbande losses for this date. This source may have more information, but unfortunately is missing and/or lost. There are many such references in the 1944 Schulen losses, though where there may be two sets of fiche for the same date range, one set may not have the same handwritten or typed comments such as these.

Re: Ju88A-4 3 août 1944

Hello and Jim Lawrence,

Thank you for your information.
Lawrence, I returned to the site of "Wolksbund"is there, I have found Rogowski. Perfect. I think I get as soon as possible in the cemetery of Lisieux photograhier for their images.

I'll dare to ask two questions:
1 ° Where can I find the summary of their mission? or their photos (if they exist)
2 ° (a question for Jim) can I get help for another two Ju88 fell near me?

Be that as it may, thank you all for helping me to identify "my" Ju88.C is happy to do research with you!

If my side I can help you, please do.
Joe
