Latin American volunteer RAF pilots?

Does anyone have any information on Latin American volunteers flying in the RAF or RCAF?

Most of the attention has gone to those, though living in Latin America, had roots in the country for which they flew (Pierre Closterman is but the best known).

The Canadian Aviation Historical Society jounral, a few years ago, had an article on Mexican volunteers in the RCAF.

thanks,

Re: Latin American volunteer RAF pilots?

David,
See if you can locate a copy of Alas de Trueno (Wings of Thunder). It is in Spanish and English. The English subtitle is: The histories of Argentine Volunteer Aircrews in the RAF and RCAF during the Second World War. By Claudio Meunier, Carlos A Garcia, and Oscar Rimondi. 573 pages, A4 size I think. ISBN 987-43-8350-X, published in 2004 in Buenos Aires.

An excellent book, but I have to say I have no idea how you would go about locating a copy.

Enjoy!

Frank.

Re: Latin American volunteer RAF pilots?

The book is very expensive (over $100) and hard to find outside of Argentina. I corresponded with the authors for a while but could not justify (to myself) paying the exorbitant price for this book. Shame.
