BofB Me109 pilot info.......
Hiya all
Trying to find any info, pictures, fate and unit etc of hptm Arnim Ettling. Only have a name can any one help. I know he was a Me109 pilot and flew in the BofB. Thanks for your help. Cheers Danny |

Credited with 8 victories. From the Kracker database: Ettling, Arnim.Hptm. - 8 victories. Legion Condor, Acting Kdr. III./JG-2 (5/40)Bf 109 E; Spanish Cross, EK 1 & 2, Fighter Operational Clasp, One known victory, his 1st, a Hawk-75A west of Compiegne, 21 May, 1940. His 2nd, a Hawk-75A on 31 May, 1940, no location. Even though Matti's is the literal translation, doesn't it make more sense that it should read, 'overturned in forced/emergency landing after take-off due to bad weather'? And 'verletzt' is injured versus 'verwundet', wounded.

From NVM I got an impression that the pilot had made an emercency landing on a field due to bad weather. When trying to fly the aircraft back to the base, it overturned during start.
Due to language difficulties I write always the original German text in my answers and give the readers to interprete the content in their own language. Matti |
