Capitaine Albert GILBERT (GC II/6) remembered
Hello,
On Sunday the 15th of May 2011 near the Bel Air Farm in Vellereille-les-Brayeux (B), Capitaine Albert Gilbert, S/L of the 4th Squadron of GC II/6, killed in air combat and 'Mort pour la France' on the 14th May 1940, was nicely honoured.
Firstly, by the unveiling of a graved stone with civilian authorities and a local music band. And by the marvellous display of the MS 406H of Charlie Fox association which made a very very special appearance, coming from Cambrai NATO Tiger Meet for this special event. Daniel Koblet (the owner and talentous pilot) paid a gallant tribute to Capitaine Gilbert, displaying the agility and smart noise of the delicate Morane-Saulnier French fighter to the little crowd; and also for the very first time in Belgian airspace since May '40.
For all of us, it was a very very special day.
