Re: Questions about 9./Flg. Regt 71.

Here is a little info. on the unit.

In terms of finding out if either of the "Flieger" you noted served with this unit you would need to research their respective service records to determine a connection. To the best of my knowledge there is no known database listing LW members who received training in this unit

Regards

Jeremy

Re: Questions about 9./Flg. Regt 71.

WENTZ, Ferdinand (Louis-Ferdinand). (DOB: 1913). 08.39 Oblt., trf to 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 122? 03.06.40 Oblt. in 3.(F)/Aufkl.Gr. 22, interned in Sweden following a forced landing at Gaddede after a navigation error in bad weather – repatriated to Germany in 1940. 20.06.43 Hptm. with 10. Fliegerdivision, trf to III. Lw.-Feldkorps for further assignment.

This is the only Luftwaffe officer in the rank of Hauptmann or above by this name in our data base. His presence with 10. Fliegerdivision up to 20.06.43 indicates that he was in France and in a training role, so he may well have been assigned to Flieger-Rgt. 71.

Re: Questions about 9./Flg. Regt 71.

Thanks Messieurs !
You are providing me very interesting informations about fields of particular history.
One of my problem is to remove photos from an old album to see handwriting infos on their back ... carefully, when it is possible (album and photo not damaged) ... indications are sometimes unreadable...
I found indication of city of LAVAL in mid -1942.
About officer Wentz I was wrong because it was probably only for a visit ... He was probably not the "direct" commander ...
The role of Oberst Gattersleben is also to define.

Thank you very indeed !
Philippe
