Italian units on the Eastern front in July 1942

Gentlemen,

Who can shed some light on the activities of Italian Macchi 200's units on the Don bend in July, 20-31, 1942? Claims and losses will be mostly appreciated.

TIA.

Nikita,
please note that the three aircraft and men lost on 26 july (all prisonners) were not combat losses: they went out of fuel.

In italian document russian aircraft are indicated as LaGG or LaGG 1.

Best

Gianandrea

Re: Italian units on the Eastern front in July 1942

Hello Nikita,

according to "Ali sulla steppa" of Nicola Malizia, on 25 july 9 Macchi 200s took off at 10:10. The Sottotenente Gino Lionello was wounded at the left leg by two 7,62 bullets but he returned regularly to base.
Best regards

Marco
