Identity of RKT at shot-down Sturmovik?

The title says it all: Who is the Ritterkreuzträger on this picture?

Judging from the IL-2, it must be 1943 or later.

Reminds me a little of Heinrich Prinz zu Sayn-Wittgenstein.

Perhaps Johannes Wiese of I/JG52? (By the way, more than fifty of his Abschusse were IL-2s.)

Yes, Wiese could fit well. He had the RK since January 1943 and definitely was interested in IL-2's . Maybe the picture is from around his 100th Abschuß, when a PK-guy was with him, see i.e. below.

Thanks!

Re: Identity of RKT at shot-down Sturmovik?

Gentlemen,

the KC-holder in this photo is Oblt./Hptm. Wilhelm Lemke, Staffelkapitän of 9./JG 3, seen in Russia in the early summer of 1943. This photo was published in our Gruppe history of III./JG 3 and will appear again in JFV 19/I. I have had an original print from a former mechanic of 9./JG 3 with the appropriate caption on the back side.

Regards

Jochen Prien
