![]() I recently ran across this in a book and was wondering how accurate it was:
"Messerschmitt-Regensburg built Bf 109G-14s from blocks 165xxx–166xxx wore standard camouflage consisting of RLM 74/75/76, identical to Bf 109G-6s built in the same production block. Aircraft from blocks 780xxx–782xxx wore similar camouflage, but on later machines RLM 74 was often replaced by RLM 82 Dunkelgrün. The uppersurfaces of the wings and tailplane, as well as the fuselage spine were painted RLM 74 (or 82) and 75; fuselage sides and underside RLM 76. The lower edge of the fuselage camouflage formed a wavy, more or less blurred line, generally parallel to the upper fuselage outline. One or both camouflage colours were applied to the fuselage sides and fin in irregular, rather large blotches. The spinner was black or RLM 70 Schwarzgrün. The lower surfaces of the wings and tailplane were painted in RLM 76." if anybody can confirm this it would be most helpful. Reason I ask is becouse I have seen many colour profiles of the same plane during the same time period with two vastly different colour schemes. |

Re: Messerschmitt Regensburg Bf 109G-14's colours
I cant't really help you with your question, but Dunkelgrun is generaly accepted today as being RLM83 and RLM82 being Hellgrun.

Re: Messerschmitt Regensburg Bf 109G-14's colours
The description broadly (this term is default when speaking of LW Cam. & Markings) applies to the camo put on Regensburg examples since early Bf 109 G-6 series (except for the RLM 82 colour, of course).
Attached please find a couple of images of a couple of mid/late MTT G-6s (RQ+SY W.Nr.163599 and NF+FD W.Nr. 163803) whose camouflage style can reasonably be thought as applied also on early G-14 models. ![]() ![]() Please notice that on most of the "tall tail" examples, since the tail unit (top fixed section and rudder) was built and pre-painted by separate sub-contractors, the scheme was of the (as we know it) "K-4" type and it was toned down by liberal overspray patterns in 76. This can be noticed on a great number of photographs since the late G-6 versions as early as the 162000 batches. We devoted a separate chapter on that in our book on the ANR C&M.

Re: Messerschmitt Regensburg Bf 109G-14's colours
thanks very much for your information! which book are you refering too, and where can I buy it? perhaps you could tell me the colours of the Bf109G-14/AS in the first two pictures below (source- Operation Bodenplatte: The Luftwaffe's Last Hope). also, I included a picture of a model from Large Scale Planes website. How close would the model be in colours?
