Further help requested on KG54 Ju88A-4 B3+AN Crash 4 Aug 43

Hi Chaps,

First of all can I thank Chris and Brian for their sterling assistance on finally finding out my Great Uncles fate - see the Karl Frass thread.

This has really motivated me to find out a little bit more on the history of this famous unit and my relatives part in it. I have ordered several books on the JU88 but I believe the only unit history of KG54 is in German.

I guess there is not much more I can find out on my relative without obtaining his records, but if anyone has any info on 5 Staffel, 2 Gruppe of KG54 and in particular their activities in 1943, that would be appreciated.

Also, I have exhausted Google Images with no joy - does anyone have a photo of JU88 A-4 B3+AN?

Listed below is some of the detail I was passed: From Chris's work it also appears the crew were in the process of transferring from Catania in Sicily to Vienna and crashed in the process, other than that, I am stumped!

Karl Frass Bf of 5/KG54 killed on Ubungsflug unknown cause at Ganserndorf on 4-8-1943, FF Uffz Heinz Imme, B Uffz Bernhard Hildebrandt, Bs Gef Eugen Trondle all killed. Ju88A4 B3+AN 1058 100%.
Source Luft GQM list dated 9-8-1943 and KG54 by Siegfried Radtke

Many thanks and any help gratefully received........

Si
They had recently returned from Catania when they were killed. There will be many B3+ANs only the Werk Nummer will be unique
