182raf-ii/jg2
Hi, I'm seeking regarding information re Flying Officer Nicholas Snowdon, 182 Squadron who was shot down and killed 16/4/43 attacking Triqueville, France by Gunther Behrendt II/JG2, who in turn was killed in action 14/7/43. Any information on both pilots etc is really welcome. Thanks

Re: 182raf-ii/jg2
Snowdon
He was killed during Ramrod mission 61 attacking Tricqueville. His aircraft, a Typhoon Mk 1b, R8834 code M was either shot down by Flak or by the stated pilot of JG 2 Leutnant Günter Behrendt of 11./JG 2 (note 11 staffeln and not II Gruppe as you write) claimed one Typhoon at 18.07H 10 km northwest of Pont Audemer at 2500 meter Lt Behrendt was killed, as you say, on July 14th, 1943, in his Messerschmitt 109G-3 Werkenummer 16294 fighting USAAF 8th Air Force B-17's, most probably by its escort fighters. He crashed at Ry, 20 km east of Rouen. Sources: Fighter Command part 3: John Forman and of course Die Jagdfliegerverbände der Deutschen Luftwaffe Teil 10/IV by Jochen Prien et all. B Rgds Stig |
