FW 200 Condor 'star' names.

Hallo all,

Could anybody please tell me if there is a list of star names (eg: Wega, Mars, etc.) for early versions of the Condor ? Can anyone confirm if 'Pollux' was on that list ?

Regards,

Martin Gleeson.

Re: FW 200 Condor 'star' names.

Hallo Snautzer,

Thanks for the reply. The star names I referred to were a later Luftwaffe style than the names of the Lufthansa airliners. They appear to have been only painted on the very nose of the aircraft which often makes them difficult to view in photographs.

So far in various publications I have seen references to 'Atair', 'Mars', 'Wega' (a C-2), 'Deneb' (F8+AH), 'Jupiter' (F8+BB), 'Aries', 'Merkur' and 'Polaris'. The first three named have photographic evidence. Also possibly 'Pollux' and 'Elektra'.

Regards,

Martin.

Hallo Chris,

Thanks very much for those two new names. I am surprised to see so many. It would be really interesting to learn how they came about. Maybe one of the KG 40 officers was an amateur astronomer !

Regards,

Martin.
