Seagoing Equipment for use on D-Day
Hello,
Seagoing Equipment for use on D-Day. And was it in use in earlier operations and perhaps later operations ? In particular the Rhino Ferry, how many were built, where were they built and to what use were they put in the run up to and use on D-Day(6th June 1944) and other operations ? USN numbering was I beleive "RHF-"followed by number. Thanks Alex |

Re: Seagoing Equipment for use on D-Day
The Rhino Ferrys were made from a standard design USN lighter pontoon. Those were made in a variety of steel fabrication shops & boat yards. Groups were fastened together and a deck with ramps placed on top.
